GOOD PERFORMANCE, BUT NO POINTS IN SALZBURG

Georg Teigl scored the lead for the "Violets” after an hour, but Red Bull Salzburg turned the game with goals from Sekou Koita, Brenden Aaronson and Luka Sucic. A performance that was appealing over a long time was unfortunately not rewarded with any points.

Patrick Pentz led Austria Wien onto the field as captain, Markus Suttner was injured - and suspended. Returning Andreas Poulsen was immediately in Peter Stöger's starting line-up. Stephan Zwierschitz started on the right in the back four this time, Georg Teigl in front of him in the midfield. Eric Martel and Thomas Ebner started in the defensive. In the offensive, the team remained unchanged, and Aleksandar Jukić was back again after his injury.

Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch made five changes. Oumar Solet, Antoine Bernede, Brenden Aaronson, Noah Okafor and Mergim Berisha were new in the starting line-up.

0-0 after the first half

Good start for Austria Wien, Salzburg’s back team had to save twice in the fourth minute. Manprit Sarkaria prevailed on the left, his cross reached Georg Teigl. Oumar Solet blocked his shot on the line - Cican Stankovic was already defeated. The follow-up shot by Benedikt Pichler was cleared by Andre Ramalho. Patrick Pentz parried a shot by Sekou Koita, Thomas Ebner intervened before Mergim Berisha could make his finish (11’). A finish by Koita after a solo just missed the pole (16’). In the 17th minute, Ramalho blocked a shot from Pichler after a cross by Teigl.

Austria Wien played very well in the first half, winning almost 60% of the duels. Red Bull Salzburg didn't have enough chances, long shots from Mohamed Camara and Antoine Bernede missed the goal (25’, 35’). The half-time break started without any goalless.

Teigl scored the lead for the “Violets”, but Salzburg turned the game around

Christoph Schösswendter had to stay in the dressing room at halftime with thigh problems, Michael Madl took his place in the central defense. Patrick Pentz was still in top form during this game, our number one brilliantly parried a shot by Berisha (52’). A long-range shot by Eric Martel was too central (57’). Two minutes later the “Violets” took the lead: Manprit Sarkaria assisted Andreas Poulsen with a great pass, Georg Teigl volleyed his cross into the near corner – 0-1 (59’).

With Patson Daka and Zlatko Junuzovic Salzburg brought well-known substitutes to the field, and the hosts equalized in the 65th minute. Daka assisted Koita - no chance for Pentz. Peter Stöger sent Patrick Wimmer into the game for Benedikt Pichler, but the relief against Salzburg, who increasingly got stronger, did not succeed. Pentz was able to prevent the 2-1 against Junuzovic for the time being, but even he was powerless against a shot by Brenden Aaronson – the game was turned (72’)

Shortly before the end, Stöger brought Dominik Fitz and Agim Zeka for Andreas Poulsen and Thomas Ebner. A shot by Patrick Wimmer went over the goal (87’). Luka Sucic made the final score of 3-1 during stoppage time (9’+3’). Austria Wien had to return to Vienna without any points.
