4-0 VICTORY AGAINST ADMIRA

In wintry conditions, Austria Wien clearly prevailed against Admira with four goals in the second half. Benedikt Pichler brought the “Violets” into the lead, Georg Teigl scored as well. Substitute Johannes Handl sealed the deal with a double pack.

No changes in the back four and in goal after the victory in Ried, in the midfield Peter Stöger made two changes. The suspended Eric Martel and Aleksandar Jukić (calf injury) were replaced by Alexander Grünwald and Georg Teigl. With Christoph Schösswendter, Stephan Zwierschitz and Thomas Ebner, three “Violets” that played for Admira before, were in the team. Christoph Monschein had to take a break due to an ankle injury.

Admira played a 2-2 in the Lower Austria duel against SKN St. Pölten, coach Damir Buric saw no reason to change his line-up.

No goals before the break

Austria Wien had the first chances of the game, Benedikt Pichler missed a shot in the second minute. Georg Teigl crossed after a strong kick on Dominik Fitz, who took the ball well with his chest, but shot just over the bar (10’). Teigl tried it himself shortly after but missed (12’). Admira goalkeeper Andreas Leitner (15’) parried a shot by Stephan Zwierschitz. On the side of the hosts, Dominik Starkl tried to surprise Patrick Pentz with a shot from an acute angle (20’). Alexander Grünwald tried a shot from great distance but missed the goal (21’).

With increasing snowfall, Admira also got stronger, Markus Suttner made the save on the line when Erwin Hoffer back-heeled the ball (28’). Patrick Pentz was on the spot for shots by Tomislav Tomic and Stephan Auer (29’). Austria Wien had another chance with a low shot by Dominik Fitz, the ball missed the goal (33’). A cross by Benedikt Pichler missed Alexander Grünwald (43’). No goals during the first half.

Great performance in the second half

The second half also began with heavy snowfall, Benni Pichler had the first opportunity. The striker made his way through on the right side, Leitner deflected the ball. Markus Suttner brought the ball back in front of the goal, Dominik Fitz missed by a hair's breadth (55’). A free kick from Suttner went over the goal (57’). In the 60th minute, the “Violets” scored their first goal: Manprit Sarkaria passed to Markus Suttner on the left wing, he thoughtfully crossed to Benedikt Pichle, who scored the 0-1.

Austria Wien stayed strong; Georg Teigl hit the pole after a pass from Sarkaria (65’). Five minutes later the same protagonists, this time the ball landed in the goal - Teigl scored the 0-2 in the 70th minute.

A quarter of an hour before the end, Peter Stöger brought Johannes Handl and Michael Madl for Christoph Schösswendter and Alex Grünwald. Handl was wide awake immediately and slammed a shot from the edge of the penalty area into the corner three minutes after being put on the pitch. The central defender didn't have enough, he headed a corner by Suttner into the goal and scored the 0-4 (83’). A finish by Pichler led to a corner, which Leitner was able to fend off with a lot of effort.

In the closing stages, Murharem Husković and Matthias Braunöder made their professional debuts, replacing Manprit Sarkaria and Dominik Fitz. Austria Wien celebrated a smooth 4-0 away win and slowly crept up to the top 6 in the table.
