WIMMER: "STARTING ELEVEN? A SUPER FEELING"

After 19 appearances in the last season Patrick Wimmer so far is in each starting eleven of headcoach Peter Stöger . The 19-year-old thanks it with goal participations (1 goal, 3 Assists) and looks forward to the Viennese Derby against the Sport-Club (Friday, 20:25 clock) and to more games for Austria Wien. Besides, he led the ÖFB U20 team as captain for the first time and was on call in the A-Team.

The coach's confidence is good for the offensive winger, who can also play fullback: "For a young player like me, it is particularly valuable to play regularly. Being in the starting eleven of Austria Wien is a great feeling every time. I want to continue my performances from the previous season and contribute even more scorer points".

In the game against WSG Tirol (2:0), Patrick Wimmer was one of the match winners with one goal and one assist: "Against Admira we left two points unnecessarily - the more important was the victory in Tyrol. The start of the season can be described as successful with seven points from four matches - we also made it our goal that we don't want to run behind again from the beginning as we did in the previous season", Wimmer describes, who looks ahead in the same breath:

Wimmer: "Sport-Club also wants to play football"

"In the Bundesliga we are looking forward to a very interesting match against Salzburg next. I believe that everything is possible there. We will certainly try to play along." First of all, there will be the traditional Viennese duel with the Sport-Club (Regionalliga East/third highest division) on Friday in the 2nd Cup round.

Patrick Wimmer, who until 15 months ago played in the fourth division at Gaflenz himself and knows the current Sport-Club coach Robert Weinstabl from their time together in Amstetten, knows what Austria Vienna has to prepare for:

"I expect a difficult game. I saw the Sport-Club once last year and they proved that they can play well. I am sure they will also go into the duels aggressively. But if we adjust well to them and don't underestimate them, we will make it to the next round.

Discovering rooms, build up the game, playing passes

What is there to tell about the training? "Today it was really exhausting", Wimmer tells after the Tuesday training and adds: "Peter Stöger attaches great importance to our game: to the build up of the game, exact passing and the discovering of rooms".

Last week Patrick Wimmer trained with the ÖFB-U20 national team and led his team for the first time as captain on the field in the test game against Steyr (1:1). Together with his violet team mates Niels Hahn and Can Keles, Wimmer will play against Germany, Wales and Serbia in November at the UEFA U19 EURO (born 2001) to qualify for the U20 World Cup next season.

"This is certainly a good platform to compete with players from other countries and to show that you can keep up everywhere", emphasizes Wimmer, who also played offensively on the wing in the red-white-red dress recently, then moved to the central midfield during the second half, in the past he also played as a fullback in the junior national team.

Many first times, but Austria Wien comes first

Not least because of his flexibility and speed ("certainly a lot of predisposition - but you can get a few percent more out of hard training") the name Patrick Wimmer is meanwhile also on the notepad of national team coach Franco Foda. For the current international match break, the 19-year-old was on call for the first time:

"The athletics coach of the U20 called me and congratulated me - I didn't even know I was on call then. He then explained everything to me. It's a nice sign - but that's all, I'm not there yet. But my club, Austria Wien, comes first for me anyway".
