Christoph Martschinko celebrated his comeback in the starting line-up, the left-back was back for the first time since October 15th, 2017. Michael Madl was fit again, started in central defence. Manprit Sarkaria started in the midfield, Sterling Yateke debuted as forward alongside Bright Edomwonyi.

LASK under coach Oliver Glasner started with the same line-up as in the impressive 6-0 Cup triumph against SKN St. Pölten. Brazilian Joao Klauss made his Bundesliga debut.

LASK dominated and took the lead

The match was determined by the hosts right from the start, Maximilian Ullmann made the first shot, Patrick Pentz was on the spot (6'). Another shot by Peter Michorl went past the goal (16'). Pentz fished a finish by Joao Klauss out of the short corner (18'), shortly after Thomas Goiginger scored to LASK’s lead after a long pass by Philipp Wiesinger (20').

A free-kick by Goiginger was secured by Pentz after his second try (35'), a finish by Uhlmann after assist by Goiginger went just past the long corner (41'). We cannot announce any scoring chances from a disappointing Austria Wien during the first half.

Joao Victor made the decision

Igor made the first shot by the ‘Violets’ in the 59th minute, but it was blocked by Wiesinger. James Jeggo made a long-range shot, but clearly missed the goal (60'). Thomas Letsch brought Dominik Prokop for Manprit Sarkaria, a little later Christoph Monschein for Sterling Yateke. Within a few seconds, Patrick Pentz parried shots by Reinhold Ranftl and Peter Michorl (65'), a long shot by James Holland went just wide (66').

During the final phase LASK secured their victory: a shot by Joao Klauss was defended by Pentz, but our goalkeeper was powerless against the follow-up shot by Joao Victor – 2-0 for the runner-up (81'). The 'Violets' could no longer oppose, the game against LASK was lost.
