AUSTRIA WIEN STARTS PREPARATION

All Austria Wien players did great in sports motor activity tests and the medical checks. Almost all players are fully fit at the start of the preparations. "We are very happy to get back to work. It is gratifying that almost everyone is fully back training with the team," says head coach Thomas Letsch. Unfortunately, Christoph Monschein got injured during the sports motor tests and will be out for approximately six weeks because of an Interior ligament.

On Monday and Tuesday, players took turns participating in sports motor tests in the gym of the Generali-Arena and medical check-ups at the Private Clinic Döbling, health partner of Austria Wien. Agility, manoeuvrability, bounce and speed. And finally, the ‘Violets’ reach their respective performance limits during the lactate tests, on the treadmill.

Matic: "It feels good to be back"

"It feels good to be back. Having days off is always good to recharge. Then you start to miss the teammates and the games. Now we are fully motivated for the preparations, we have great test game opponents and want to create a base for a successful second half," says midfielder Uros Matic.

Personnel situation

Except for Alexandar Borkovic, Dominik Fitz (both in the army until January 22nd) and James Jeggo (with the Australian national team in the Asian Cup in action) all ‘Violets’ are back. Petar Gluhakovic will be reintegrated into the team training during the coming weeks, Alex Grünwald cannot fully practice as well, but also hopes to join the training camp (January 23rd – February 1st in Turkey). Otherwise, all Austrian Wien players are fully fit.
