AUSTRIA WIEN LOANS PALMER-BROWN FROM MANCHESTER CITY

The 22-year-old US national player joins Austria Wien from Manchester City on loan until the end of the season with a transfer option. The location Wien Favoriten, the training facilities and the development possibilities at Austria Wien convinced Palmer-Brown and Manchester City, that this loan agreement could be a win-win-situation.

Since his visit at the Etihad campus in March Sports Director Ralf Muhr maintains good contacts to Fergal Harkin, responsible for Football Partnership & Pathways Manager at Manchester City.

The center back Palmer-Brown already visited the Generali-Arena two weeks ago and was instantly convinced to be part of Austria Wien because of the good training and development possibilities in Wien-Favoriten.

In the previous season Palmer-Brown was loaned to NAC Breda from the Netherlands and played 18 games in the Eredivisie. In spring 2018 the center back played for KV Kortrijk in Belgium. In the previous years Palmer-Brown played for Sporting Kansas City in the MLS, until Manchester City bought him in 2018 at the age of 20 years.

Sports Director Ralf Muhr: „It’s a pleasure that we managed to finish our first transfer agreement as part of the cooperation with Manchester City. We are glad that we have an additional center back, especially because of the injuries of Borkovic and Schoissengeyr. We look forward to the development of Palmer-Brown and hope that the loan agreement will be a win-win-win-situation for us, the player and Manchester City.“

Erik Palmer-Brown: „The brand-new stadium and the new training facilities are amazing. I came a couple of weeks ago and something that really stood out to me was when the players were going to get water they came over to introduce themselves to me. That showed a lot about the character. I am really excited to meet all of them. I am ready to get to work. A big goal for me is to be a part of the team as quick as possible and to help the team achieve the goals of the club. I want to be a good team player and the best version of myself I can be.“
