Austria Wien welcomed more than 30 top international clubs in the Generali-Arena at the 15th and 16th of Jannuary, as part of the Club Management Programme of the European Club Association. The event location was greatly received, and on the agenda was the exchange of know-how with clubs like FC Barcelona, Bayern München or Manchester City.

Austria Wien as host for ECA

Internationalization can not only be found in Austria Wien’s strategy paper, but was again particularly lived this week. After Juventus in Turin, Chelsea in London and the New York City FC in the city that never sleeps, the ‘Violets’ hosted the Club Management Programme of ECA, the representation of interests for European football clubs, in the world's most liveable city.

The operational areas of B2B and B2C marketing as well as controlling were initially the focus, as well as insights into the S.T.A.R.-Project. This was how the club and its divisions presented themselves.

A lot of praise and interesting discussions

Special praise was given by the participants for the style and choice of colour in the Generali-Arena, the level of gastronomic services offered and the strategic plan for the largest infrastructure project in the history of Austria Wien.

Bayern München, digital partner of Austria Wien since December 2018, gave an exciting insight into a case study on the digitization of the Allianz Arena and how innovative technology could improve the stadium experience for fans and clubs.

The second day was also filled with interesting lectures, open discussions with executives from more than 30 football clubs from around the world. Among other things, legal, financial and personnel tasks and daily challenges were the focus of attention.

That way, the guests as well as the employees of Austria Wien were able to take in important input from many experts from the football business and people from top clubs such as FC Barcelona, Manchester United or Arsenal.

"Great honour for Austria Wien"

Another confirmation of the great work and the development of Austria Wien: The Generali-Arena received a lot of praise as an event location, and as a stadium itself, and was able to please the representatives of big clubs, who usually travel in other spheres of the world.

The next meeting of the Club Management Programme, which focuses on sports and innovation, will take place in Beijing in March. Another highly interesting station, where the booming Asian sport market is brought closer to the European football clubs - Austria Wien will also take part in the meeting.

CEO Markus Kraetschmer: "We can be very proud and it is a great honour to host the Club Management Program. When you look at the other locations where the meetings have already taken place, we should be very pleased and feel honoured. We have also received a lot of praise for the event and the location from many high-ranking representatives and it is another important step towards internationalization that we want to continue to push forward."
